The Pune Nagarik Sanghatana a coalition of NGOs who have fielded 15 candidates for civic polls released its election manifesto on Wednesday clearly stating that if elected to power there will be no tax hike for the next five years.
Coordinators of the Sanghatana,Vivek Velankar and Anup Awasthi,told mediapersons that among other assurances their focus will be on collecting pending arrears amounting to Rs 100 crore.
Instead of imposing and levying new taxes our focus will be on creating an efficient administration,Velankar said.
The manifesto also aims at bringing changes in octroi collection and reducing the tax to just 1 per cent as against the present 2.5 per cent.
Ensuring water supply for at least eight hours a day,road repairs work and allocating Rs 100 crore in the civic budget for the PMPML are among the highlights of their manifesto. The manifesto also assures to check irregularities in the appointments made in different committees besides promising changes in the education and health sector.
