The Pune Bar Association (PBA) has written to the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court and State Law Minister, seeking a mobile bench of the High Court for admitting cases from the city.
PBA president Milind Pawar said: The litigation ratio between Pune and the neighbouring districts is 1:5 approximately. The crowding could very easily be solved,if a Mobile Admission Stage High Court Bench is commenced at Pune. A couple of judges could visit the city, maybe twice a week or as per the exigencies of the matters, and decide the admission stages of the matter.
Pawar said the Maharashtra State Legal Service Authority had started a mobile van that visited villages to hear various matters. Since Pune is centrally-located place to nearby districts like Solapur,Kolhapur,Sangli,Satara,Konkan and Belgaum,a mobile bench of the high court will benefit litigants from these districts too, he said.
The PBAs memorandum mentions that the Mobile Admission Stage High Court Bench may only decide the admission of cases and those admitted, may finally be decided by the Bombay High Court at Mumbai.
The letter has also been sent to Chief Justice of India,President Pratibha Patil and Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily,he said.
