Rauf Shaikh, 21, worked as a food delivery boy.The family of a 21 year-old food delivery boy who was run over by a speeding luxury car in Pune has sought justice from the government and demanded stern measures against hit-and-run cases.
Rauf Shaikh was killed while three others were injured after an Audi car rammed into two motorcycles at Mundhwa past Thursday midnight.
The driver of the Audi, identified as Ayush Pradip Tayal, 34, has been arrested on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, the police said. Tayal had fled the scene after the accident.
“The police were helpful to us, but now we want justice. Some action needs to be taken. How many cases of killing of poor people by the rich will we see? In Pune hit-and-run cases and rape cases are all increasing.” said Chand Shaikh, questioning the poor law and order system.
Chand Shaikh said that the tragedy happened while Rauf was on his way to deliver his last order of the day. “He was from a poor family and had been working as a delivery boy for the last 2 months,” he added.
Tayal’s blood sample has been sent to check if he was under the influence of alcohol while driving, said a senior police officer.
