COPS attached with Faraskhana police station claimed to have recovered two countrymade pistols from a murder accused who was aiming to sell the guns in Mangalwar Peth, Wednesday.
Accused Deepak Dattatray Jadhav (25) hails from Sultanpur in Ambegaon taluka of the district.
Investigations are on to find out from where he procured the weapons and who he wanted to sell those to.
Policemen Iqbal Shaikh and Ramesh Chaudhari from the detection branch of the police station had received information that Jadhav would come to sell the firearms.
A team led by PSI Girish Sonawane, in-charge of the detection branch, laid a trap near Mangal Chowk and nabbed Jadhav.
Police officials said two 7.65-mm countrymade pistols and eight cartridges were recovered from him.
Jadhav is an accused in a murder case registered with Manchar police station in 2012 and an attempt-to-murder case registered at Khed police station.
