Pune: ACB arrests cop, says took Apple 5S phone as bribe

A sub-inspector named Ganesh Shinde for allegedly accepting an Apple 5S mobile phone for not filing a robbery case.

The state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a police sub-inspector named Ganesh Shinde for allegedly accepting an Apple 5S mobile phone for not filing a robbery case.

According to ACB, Shinde is attached to Talegaon Dabhade MIDC police station. A complaint regarding robbery against a man was received at the police station. Shinde allegedly demanded an Apple 6S mobile phone from the accused for not filing a complaint against him. After negotiations, however, he settled for an Apple 5S.

Meanwhile, the man filed a complaint against Shinde with ACB. A team of ACB sleuths laid a trap and nabbed Shinde red-handed near Lake Paradise society in Talegaon Dabhade.

Meanwhile, in another trap, the ACB arrested two members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a hostel authority. They have been identified as Yogendra Kulkarni and Ramchandra Kumbhar.

According to the ACB, the CWC had received a complaint against a hostel comprising girls and boys. Kulkarni and Kum-bhar demanded Rs 25,000 from the hostel authorities for giving a report in their favour. The hostel authorities, however, filed a complaint with ACB. The ACB sleuths accordingly laid a trap and nabbed the duo red-handed at a hotel near the old building of Pune Zilla Parishad.
