Pune: 34-year-old journalist commits suicide in Pimpri

Nisha Prashant Pise left a suicide note and prima-facie, it has been revealed that she ended her life following some problem in her family, said police.

Her brother, Mahesh Shingote, informed Pimpri-Chinchwad Police about the incident.

Nisha Prashant Pise (34), a journalist from Pimpri-Chinchwad, committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Nehru Nagar area on Thursday night, said police.

Pise left a suicide note and prima-facie, it has been revealed that she ended her life following some problem in her family, said police.

Pise, a former president of the Pimpri Chinchwad Mahila Patrakar Sangh, was working for a regional newspaper. She was in office on Thursday and left for home around 8.45 pm, where she committed suicide hours later, said police.

Her brother, Mahesh Shingote, informed Pimpri-Chinchwad Police about the incident. A team from Pimpri police station reached the spot and took Pise’s body for postmortem. Later, her last rites were held at her native village in Junnar.

Sunil Landge, president of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Working Journalists Association, said a condolence meet for Pise will be held at the press room of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation at 4 pm on Saturday.
