A 22-YEAR-old advertising professional was in for a brutal shock when five persons “dragged her out of the car, thrashed her, and started hurling abuses at her for wearing short clothes and accompanying men at 5 in the morning”. The incident took place in the wee hours of May 1, when the girl was on her way back home after attending a function with her colleagues.
The woman has registered a First Information Report at Kondhwa police station and the police have arrested three persons so far. Two of the men are businessmen while the third one works for a private company.
According to police, the incident took place around 5.30 am in Kondhwa when the complainant and her two colleagues were on their way home after attending the marriage anniversary celebration of parents of one of their colleagues.
Police Inspector (Crime) Varsharani Patil of Kondhwa police station said, “The suspects started chasing the car of the complainant in Kondhwa around 5.30 am. At a secluded spot, they rolled down the window and started hurling abuses at the woman. They asked her how could she have worn short clothes. The suspects then followed her car till her house.”
According to the complaint, near her house, they dragged her out of the car, attacked her and her colleagues, and molested her. They tore her clothes too, said the complaint. Inspector Patil said, “The complainant received an external injury on her hand which has now healed. She was in a state of shock and approached us on Sunday.”
After the complaint, the police launched a manhunt for the suspects and three persons were arrested. They have been identified as Amit Ashok Mukedkar (35), Shubham Shashi Gupta (19) and Yogesh Rajkrushna Chaugule (26). The trio has been remanded to police custody.
