With the Maharashtra Public Service Commissions (MPSC) Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) examination and Union Public Service Commissions (UPSC) civil services main examination scheduled for December 8,several candidates preparing for both the exams are in a fix.
Candidates who have qualified for both the exams after at a disadvantage now. Authorities concerned should take appropriate action in the interest of the students and change the date of one of the exam, said a candidate on condition of anonymity.
Speaking with Newsline,Vishwanath Patil, director of Prithvi Academy, said conducing two important government examinations like the PSI and UPSC civil services on the same day was unfair.
The number of affected students might not be too big,but such mismanagement should not happen, even if the issue just affects a handful of students. A clash of dates of exams of two different professions is acceptable. But,holding of the PSI and UPSC exams on the same day is not acceptable, he said.
MPSC chairman Sudhir Thakre said,We had prepared the schedule of our examination after carefully examining the scheduled shared with us by UPSC authorities. Utmost care was taken so that the dates didnt clash. We are unaware if the UPSC changed in its schedule, Thakre said.
He added that rescheduling of the PSI examination could be considered if any formal complaint was received from the candidates.
