Protest in support of Anna’s strike

To support Team Anna’s protest at Jantar Mantar against the killing of IPS officer Narendra Kumar,members of India Against Corruption (IAC) held a day-long protest at Savarkar Smarak in the city on Sunday.

Deepak Bharadiya,IAC city co-ordinator,said,“Today’s protest was quite successful as we witnessed quite a good turnout of people. The people have realised the need for a whistleblower protection framework in the Jan Lokpal Bill. Now,Anna has decided to leave it to Parliament to consider the demands of the public. As of now,we have no further plans in this direction except our mohalla charcha samuh that we’ve been organising for over two months now.”

Another IAC member Balbir Singh said,“It is a turning point in our democracy to see the likes of A Raja and Suresh Kalmadi spend almost a year in jail. We firmly believe that Anna’s protests will once again yield positive results with respect to the protection of whistleblowers. We need to remember Narendra Kumar,Satyendra Dubey,Yashwant Sonawane and numerous others who laid down their lives to expose corruption,”
