In view of the rising water consumption,the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has proposed to increase the capacity of the Warje water pumping station by 86 million litres per day (MLD). The proposal also says that by 2015,this capacity will be extended by another 100 MLD. The proposal says: Warje pumping station started functioning from March 2006. Parts of the city including Warje,Kothrud,Pashan,Baner,Bavdhan and Balewadi are covered under this pumping station. The daily pumping capacity of this plant is 120 MLD. However,considering the rising demand of water by 2025,there is a plan to increase the pumping capacity of the plant by 86 MLD in the first phase. The capacity will be further increased by another 100 MLD by 2015.
