Poona College of Arts,Science and Commerce principal Dr Mohammad Qudratullah has been suspended from service for violating the election code of conduct by campaigning for BSP candidate from Pune Lok Sabha constituency.
Acting on a complaint filed by Sayyed Abdul Qadar,a former laboratory assistant in Poona College, the Election Commission had issued directives to the Pune Lok Sabha constituency returning officer to write to Yateemkhana and Madrasa Anjuman Khairul Islam that runs the Poona College to take action against Qudratullah. I had given a written complaint to the Election Commission on April 14 as Dr Qudratullah had given a speech on April 4 in favour of DS Kulkarni. He had also posed for photos that had appeared in the media, said Qadar who had worked in Poona College till 2006,after which he took voluntary retirement.
According to a letter by assistant returning officer, the college management had asked for a weeks time from April 22 to take action against the principal. However, after it failed to do so,the assistant returning officer again asked the management to take a decision by May 4.
Fatima Allana, chairperson of Yateemkhana and Madrasa Anjuman Khairul Islam, issued Qudratullahs suspension orders on Wednesday. The letter also says that the charge of the college is to be handed over to in-charge principal GM Nazeeruddin. An immediate disciplinary inquiry has been initiated against Qudratullah. Despite repeated efforts,Qudratullah was not available for comment.
