To attract private vehicle users to avail the service of its air conditioned buses running on the BRTS route Katraj to Hadapsar the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMPML) on Thursday announced a lucky draw for commuters. Six selected passengers will be given a free weekly pass while those selected four times will get a free one-day trip to Mahabaleshwar.
The PMPML is running 10 AC buses on the BRTS route and plans are to attract the private vehicle users to opt the public transport service, PMPML managing director Nitin Khade said.
He said there will be a lucky draw for commuters of AC buses plying on the BRTS route wherein the lucky ones will get a free weekly pass and a trip to Mahabaleshwar if a commuter is chosen four times.
The PMPML will introduce additional buses on various city routes and a total of 915 new buses will join the fleet of PMPML in the next five months,Khade said. There will be an addition of 650 buses sanctioned under JNNURM while 75 buses will be given jointly by PMC and PCMC. A total of 165 buses will be hired on rental basis. The new fleet will also include 200 AC buses,Khade said.

The PMPML will put up 1,000 bus timetable boards at bus stops,Khade said.
As a step to better the service and make it commuter-friendly,Khade said the PMPML has penalised 450 conductors and drivers in 35 days for misconduct with commuters.
