The ruling NCP in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday resolved the stalemate between the civic officers and MNS corporators who had been protesting against Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Pathak’s inaction against NCP corporator Reshma Bhosale for misusing powers to pay property tax dues.

MNS had been raising the issue that Bhosale “falsely” procured the no dues certificate from the civic property tax department without clearing the dues during 2012 civic polls. However, the dues were paid after the elections following which an inquiry was initiated and action was taken against two civic officers of property tax department. The officers were recently arrested and subsequently suspended from the department.

The MNS alleged that Pathak was protecting the NCP corporator by not taking action against her and as a mark of protest gifted him bangles in the civic general body meeting last week. However, this agitated the civic officers who boycotted the meeting seeking apology from MNS leaders.

Mayor Vaishali Bankar convened a meeting of all-party leaders to resolve the issue. After intervention of the ruling party leaders the issue was buried.

NCP leader Subhash Jagtap apologised on behalf of the MNS and put an end to the issue. Additional Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Jagtap said the civic officers have withdrawn the agitation and would attend all the meetings from Wednesday.
