Under criticism for considering the withdrawal of water cuts for select days during the Ganesh festival, political parties in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Wednesday decided to continue with the existing water supply system of alternate days, to the city.

“It was unanimously decided that the water cuts decision should not be withdrawn as the water availability in the dams is less,” said Mayor Dattatraya Dhankawade.

Earlier, the civic administration had expressed reluctance to the demand of elected representatives to withdraw the water cut, citing technical problems in the water supply system.

Due to poor rainfall, the PMC had started 30 per cent water cut from September 7 and decided to provide water on alternate days.
