A panch witness,who had accompanied the Anti-Terrorism Squad team from Pune to Udgir after the arrest of German Bakery blast accused Himayat Baig,deposed before the court on Friday. The panch identified the objects that were recovered from Baigs house in Udgir before the court.
The 38-year-old witness told the court of Additional Sessions judge N P Dhote how he was asked to be the panch by ATS in the case. During his examination by the special public prosecutor Raja Thakre,the panch witness said that after some formalities at the Pune ATS office,he was taken to Udgir along with Baig and one more panch witness.
In the statement signed by the panch,Baig had said that Yasin Bhatakal and Mohsin Chaudhary had prepared the bomb at his cyber cafe in Udgir. Some of the material that was used for the bomb was still lying at his residence in Udgir.
The witness told the court that the investigating officer Vinod Satav had asked for a team to detect the explosives to be brought to Baigs house in Udgir. There was a wooden double bed in one of the rooms. Baig showed a polythene bag to the officials, he said. Various objects from the bag were seized by the ATS in presence of the panch witnesses and were sealed with their sign. The seven sealed packets were opened before the court and the panch identified them. Defence counsel A Rehman will cross-examine the witness on Saturday.
