Over 6,300 students secured admissions to different colleges by the end of the second day of Round 2 of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for First Year Junior College (FYJC) in Pune.
By Tuesday evening, a total of 6,398 students were admitted in round 2, which began on June 27. Wednesday is the last day to secure admission as per seats allotted in round 2 in the 326 participating colleges.
College authorities said they have made arrangements to ensure a smooth admission process. “The admission process, unlike during Covid, is in hybrid mode,” said Dr Nitin Kulkarni, vice principal of Fergusson College. “The seats have been allotted online and the document verification will be done in college,” he said.
Fergusson college filled 254 out of the 360 seats in the arts department and 650 out of the 840 seats in the science department by Tuesday afternoon. “More than 90 per cent admissions to our college will be completed in this round,” said Dr V N Dhivar, vice principal of Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC). “Only a few seats will remain vacant and admissions will possibly be completed in the third round,” he said.
BMCC has filled up 426 out of the 480 seats for students given grant-in-aid and 91 out of the 121 non-grant seats.
Science has been the most popular stream so far with 17,398 students opting for the stream, as per official data.
Commerce is a close second with 13,034 students while 3,542 students enrolled for Arts as of Tuesday evening.
In Round 1 of CAP, 23,272 students took admission in colleges falling in the jurisdiction of Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The first round ended on June 26 with 66,681 vacant seats, which are now being filled in Round 2.
A total of 34,732 students have been admitted so far against an intake of 1,14,510.
