Clearing the air on Pune MP Suresh Kalmadis demand that the NCP end its alliance with the BJP-Sena in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) before the Assembly polls or else the Congress would fight the elections alone,Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Saturday said that any decision,whether to to go it alone or make NCP a pre-poll ally,rests solely with the Congress high command.
Chavan,who was in the city to attend the concluding function of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) rally said that their state-wide campaign that commenced on June 23 was a success and had received a good response.
Reminding party workers that the Congress had bagged 17 seats while the NCP got only eight in the Lok Sabha polls,Chavan asked party workers to rally round for a good show in the Assembly polls,too.
Let us do it for the Assembly elections where there are 288 seats, said Chavan. Jinkla Rashtra,Ata Chala Jinku Maharashtra will be our slogan for the Assembly polls,he said.

He said there were no factions within the Congress and they were united in their efforts to campaign to get a good majority in the Assembly elections in October. There are no differences, he said clearing the air on the reported differences among him,Vilasrao Deshmukh and Narayan Rane.
The function was attended by Kalmadi,Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde,former home minister Shivraj Patil,MPCC president Manikrao Thakre,Industries Minister Narayan Rane,senior Congress leader Mohan Prakash and Pravin Rashtrapal.
On an alliance with the NCP,Thakre said that if the party continue the alliance,the Congress will stake claim on more seats.
