One more offence of alleged sexual harassment has now been registered against writer and social activist Laxman Mane, taking the total number of cases against him to six.
On March 20,three women employees of a residential school for underprivileged students had accused Mane of repeatedly raping them between 2003 and 2010 on the pretext of giving them jobs. Three days later, two more women from the Kolhapur-based unit of the school had made similar allegations against Mane. Mane is the executive president of the organisation which runs these schools.
On Saturday,a woman from one of the units of the organisation approached the Satara Taluka police. Inspector Shrirang Langhe said Mane was absconding.
A court in Satara had rejected Manes plea for an anticipatory bail. Investigations of the cases has been assigned to four police officers.
