“I am a firm believer in the mass transport system. Hence,I feel traffic management,development of road corridors and decongestion are some of the prime issues that need urgent attention in Pune. Environment concerns like air quality are also some of the prime concerns in the city,” Zagade said.

“There should be an integrated development of the city and as a commissioner I would strive to implement the decisions in an expeditious manner. Once a decision is taken,I will ensure that it is taken to its logical conclusion speedily,” Zagade said.

He added that one needs to keep the city’s long-term development in mind and also take the next hundred years in account while talking of development. “I will prepare a roadmap for the development of the city,” Zagade said.

He said that he would welcome the views of the general public on development issues. “I will be open to views of individuals,experts and voluntary groups. Ideas can generate from all sections of the society,and I welcome them,as ultimately they lead to positive work.,” he added.

An IAS officer from 1993 batch,Zagade said that there is a need to create a citizen-centric administration. “Pune should become a place not only to reside,but also to earn money,” he said.

Over the ongoing Uruli Devachi and Phursungi garbage issue,Zagade said,“We are working on the issue. And I assure that during my tenure as a commissioner,the issue of garbage depot would be resolved once and for all. Instead of creating any more garbage depots around the city,the emphasis should be on processing the waste. We would also look at the possibilities of generating energy through the waste,” he replied.

Zagade’s agenda
* Speedy implementation of civic works.
* Traffic management,mass transport.
* Attention to environment.
* Citizen-centric administration.
* Permanent solution to garbage problem.
