Neo care centre inaugurated at Oyster & Pearl Hospital

Oyster & Pearl Hospital,which was inaugurated in October 2008 has launched a Neo Care Centre for complete newborn care.

Oyster & Pearl Hospital,which was inaugurated in October 2008 has launched a Neo Care Centre for complete newborn care. The centre was inaugurated on Tuesday by Dr Amita Phadnis,director,pediatrics and neonatology and Dr Tushar Parikh Neonatologist at Oyster & Pearl Hospital.

The neo care unit has the latest equipment in neo-natal care such as Giraffe,which is a complete support system for premature babies with less weight,and the Bili-blanket phototherapy system for treatment of jaundice in infants.

It also has a unique newborn transport,which can transport newborns and has a critical care unit for the infants along with a installed incubator and trained staff. The unit has also come up with novel idea of health packages for infants. They have introduced two packages namely,newborn good health package and good health plus package. Says Dr Tushar Parikh,“Neonates may have hidden illnesses such as kidney disorders,heart defects,hypothyroidism or other metabolic disorders. At Oyster & Pearl Neocare,we have designed newborn good health packages that can give that extra assurance about normalcy of the baby. This is the first of its kind in Pune and probably in India too.”
