The Yuvati (young women’s) wing of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has protested against various confession pages in vogue on the popular social networking site Facebook. In a press release issued here on Thursday, the wing said that such pages are both demeaning and dangerous for women. The confession pages on Facebook have caught the imagination of college students of the city. As the name suggests, students use this page to post anonymous messages. Meant for playful banter about college life,in reality, these pages often witness acrimonious fights and disturbances.

The confession pages are being used to demoralise and insult girl students. Many a time hurtful messages are posted on the pages against girl students, added the release. “While harmless fun is all right, this trend is dangerous,” it said.

Sanjay Shinde, head of the cyber cell of NCP,has written to various college principals asking them to look into the matter. He has sought moderation of confession pages.
