A group of at least 40 miscreants went on a rampage in Bhosari area and damaged several shops and vehicles Friday night, creating panic among local residents. An offence has been registered in this case at the Bhosari police station. A huge police force was deployed in the area after the rampage to control the situation. A video footage has been obtained from CCTV cameras installed in the area where the youths went on rampage. Meanwhile, the police managed to arrest three persons Saturday, who the police suspect were involved in the incident. The police have identified the suspects as Vikas Lakshman Kamble (21) of Akurdi, Amol Sonawane (28) of Walhekarwadi and Vivek Somwanshi (25) of Chinchwad.
The police have identified more persons from the video footage. Search has been launched for nabbing the miscreants.
The police said that a group of at least 40 persons on motorcycles armed with sharp weapons, all of a sudden started the violence in Tukaram Nagar on Dighi road area of Bhosari around 9 pm. The youths damaged at least five shops, five four-wheelers and several two-wheelers parked on the road. They damaged public and private property with their weapons and by pelting stones.
Learning of the incident, police teams rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Probe revealed that attacks were carried out by suspect Somya alias Sonya Kalbhore and his aides. The police said that Somya was beaten up by some youths in Bhosari following some dispute earlier. So to take revenge, he and his aides armed themselves and went on rampage. Police patrolling was intensified in Bhosari area to normalise the situation.
