Minor booked for ‘molesting’ six-year-old girl

The Yerawada police have booked a minor boy for allegedly molesting a six-year-old girl at an observation home in February.

The Yerawada police have booked a minor boy for allegedly molesting a six-year-old girl at an observation home in February. A case has also been registered against the authorities of the observation home. The Women and Child Development Department had conducted an inquiry into the case.

The complaint registered by an official of the Women and Child Development Department stated that the incident took place on February 4. The boy was reportedly sent home after the incident,while the victim girl was kept at the observation home.

Inspector Shivaji Shinde of Yerawada police station said,“The complaint is based on an inquiry. The authorities of the observation home should have informed the police and a medical test was mandatory. But they did nothing. After the officers received information about the case,an inquiry was conducted and the matter was reported to us two days ago.”

He added that the observation home authorities were booked under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act. “We will investigate who was responsible for the negligence,” the officer said.
