HADAPSAR police arrested a 42-year-old doctor for allegedly harassing and molesting his 21-year-old relative and threatening her and her husband with dire consequences if she reported the matter to the police.
An FIR was registered after the victim approached Police Commissioner Rashmi Shukla, who directed Hadapsar police to register a complaint.
Senior inspector of Hadapsar police station RN Mohite said that the accused, Dr Balasaheb Harpale, is the head of the medical cell of the city BJP.
In her complaint, the victim said that Harpale, who is her uncle, used to threaten her by saying that he has connection with senior BJP leaders.
The woman said in her complaint that there was a land dispute in the family and whenever she went to him to talk about the issue, he misbehaved with her and used to threaten her if she reported the matter.
The woman said that she was harassed regularly between December last year to March this year. An FIR has been registered under Sections 354 (molestation) and 504 (criminal intimidation) of IPC. Mohite said that Harpale has been remanded to police custody for three days.
Police custody for salon worker
A 25-year-old man working at a beauty parlour in Chandannagar, who was arrested for allegedly molesting a woman customer, has been remanded to police custody for four days. The incident took place on Sunday evening when the accused, Sachin Sutte, allegedly molested the woman, a Human Resources Executive with an IT company, during a massage session. The woman left the salon and approached police. ENS
