The sub-divisional officer of Maval has dismissed the appeal filed by Abhishek Bachchan to remove the status of forest reservation on his 11-acre land in Pale village in Maval.

“Though the appeal was dismissed in January this year,it was only on Tuesday that we got the copy of the order from Maval SDO,” said advocate A V Sakurkar, forest department special public prosecutor.

Around eight years ago Abhishek had bought the land on survey number 137/1/3 in Pale village. After he bought the land,it came to light that the land was reserved under forest department since 1975.

Abhishek had filed an appeal before SDO Maval in 2008 to remove the status of reservation.

The forest department, through its prosecutor Sakurkar, contested the appeal for four years and submitted documents and proofs to show that the land was under forest reservation.

“Even as we were following up the appeal,SDO Maval sent the dismissal order to the tehsildar and talathi. It was only after following up with them,we got a copy of the order on Tuesday,” said Sakurkar.
