Man feared drowned in Katraj lake

A 40-year-old labourer drowned while boating with his two children in Katraj lake on Thursday afternoon. Rajesh Vitthal Dhotre,whose body was not found till late on Thursday.

A 40-year-old labourer drowned while boating with his two children in Katraj lake on Thursday afternoon. Rajesh Vitthal Dhotre,whose body was not found till late on Thursday, had gone to the lake along with friend’s family. A fire brigade team was pressed into rescue operations,too.

Bharati Vidyapeeth police said Dhotre was a resident of Wadarwadi. Senior inspector Nagnath Wakude said,“Dhotre was boating with his two kids. In another boat were his friend and his two children. Witnesses told us that Dhotre lost balance and fell into the lake. His kids,however,were safe on the boat.”

When life guards saw Dhotre falling off the boat,they got into action immediately. “A fire brigade team was also called in for rescue operations,” Wakude said.

Sanjay Ramteke,station officer who led the rescue team team said,“We started rescue operation with the help of divers initially. We also brought underwater search apparatus but could not find the body. We suspended the operations in the evening after it was dark. We will continue again on Friday morning.”
