Mahanor to open literary meet today

Poet ND Mahanor will inaugurate the 83rd Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (All-India Marathi Literary Meet) at SP College on Friday.

Poet ND Mahanor will inaugurate the 83rd Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (All-India Marathi Literary Meet) at SP College on Friday. The three-day meet will have 10 seminars on topics related to Marathi language and literature.

Amitabh Bachchan will attend the concluding session on Sunday when he will read poet Suresh Bhat’s Marathi poem Labhale Amhas Bhagya,bolato Marathi (We are honoured because we speak Marathi). He will also recite verses from Madhushala,the immortal work of his father,late Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

Veteran Marathi authors and poets D M Mirasdar,Shyam Manohar,Dr Nagnath Kotapalle,Ramdas Futane,others like Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari,Justice Narendra Chapalgaonkar,Shaheer Sable and Shaheer Leeladhar Hegde will participate in the meet.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan will be the chief guest at the concluding ceremony on Sunday.

“We will have a seminar on freedom of expression and social pressures,” said Dr D B Kulkarni,president of the meet. All events will be webcast in nine cities — Amravati,Solapur,Aurangabad,Dhule,Nanded,Nagpur,Kolhapur,Nashik and Ratnagiri said Satish Desai,president of the organising committee. The webcast will be available on mkcl.org/mss,and mkcl.org/mss.
