Leopard spotted in Mundhwa residential society, drones, trap cameras deployed
In the early hours of Thursday, a leopard was spotted in the CCTV camera footage of a residential society in Keshav Nagar. The footage was shared with the Forest Department officials and its authenticity was verified.
"From Thursday evening, the search was conducted using a thermal drone. Public awareness activities have also been carried out among local residents. The Forest Department will begin night patrolling from tonight in Keshavnagar, Mundhwa, and the surrounding areas. Special teams have been formed for this purpose." the officer added. AFTER PUNE Airport, Aundh, Bavdhan and Pashan, a leopard was spotted on the premises of a residential society in Keshav Nagar area of Mundhwa. The forest department has launched a search operation and is displaying drone cameras and trap cameras to track movement of the leopard.
Multiple sightings of the leopard have been reported from half a dozen locations in Pune City over the past one month including at Pune Airport, Aundh, Bavdhan and Pashan-Sutarwadi. Among these locations, a leopard was captured by the forest department a week ago.
