Theatre group Yavnika performed an interesting play at Tain Square on Thursday evening. The plot of the play Beewiyon Ka Madarsa revolved around a girl who has been brought up by her father with the sole aim of getting her married. She meets a young man,they fall in love and try and fool her father so they can tie the knot. Directed by Sewak Nayyar,the play featured Rishabha Nayyar,Deepak Mishra,Sandhya Thaplyal and Ravi Kant Dubey in lead roles. They effectively brought out the subject and displayed good comic timing. The group in addition to Beewiyon Ka Madarsa has also performed plays like Panchi Aate Hain,Andhon ka Haathi,Comedy of Terrors,Aaj Raat and Jis Lahore Nahin amongst others.
Shaniwarwada will come alive with the spirit of culture and classical dance on March 16. The 11th Shaniwarwada Dance Festival will commence at 6.30 pm with Nirakar Sakar,a performance conceptualised and choreographed by Kathak exponent Shama Bhate. This 30-minute performance by her troupe Naad-Roop,which will present seven ‘bandishein’,is a dedication to late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Noted dancer Astad Deboo will also take to the stage for ‘Rhythm Divine’. He will be accompanied by Pungcholam drummers from Manipur. The passes for the festival will be available at Poona Club,PYC Gymkhana,Balgandharva Rangmandir and Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium,Kothrud,from March 8.
