The Rotary Club of Pune,Lokmanyanagar,had organised a youth leadership workshop on July 23 in the premises of Gopal High School,Sadashiv Peth. The workshop,titled Rotary Youth Leadership Programme,aimed at imparting ‘quality leadership’ and ‘organisational training’ to young people.In this age of cut throat competition I do not want my school children to fade away given the lack of access they have, says R. B.Khomani,the Headmaster of this school which has students from families which are below poverty line. The training programme included teaching of traffic disciplines,table manners,personality development and use of the internet. The student who sends the first email in a month will be awarded as well.We also enlightened students about female foeticide and its effects. Encouraged them to do social work,save electricity,water and trees, adds Khomani. It was an all-day workshop,attended by 40 students. The training programme also included the introduction of the Interact club in the school and electing the president and vice president for the same. Ajay Bhendage was elected as the president while Aarti Srivastav became the vice president.
