A day after he was booked,Pune rural police have arrested developer Kisan Rathod for unauthorised construction on and around Katraj hill.
However,no one has been named in the case of accidental death of a woman and her daughter whose car was washed away due to gushing waters and debris during a flash flood. Illegal constructions on the hill had been blamed for the mishap.
The waterlogging caused by debris from the hill near Katraj tunnel at Shindewadi caused the death of Vishakha Sachin Wadekar (31) and her daughter Sanskruti. On Wednesday,Rajgad police filed an offence against Kisan Dhavji Rathod and his brother Pandit Dhavji Rathod under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act 1966.
Police arrested Kisan from his office in the early hours of Thursday. Inspector Yashwant Gawari of Rajgad police station said,Kisan was produced in court and released on bail for a surety of Rs 15,000. Bhor tehsildar Ramchandra Choube had filed an FIR on unauthorised constructions against the Rathod brothers at Rajgad police station late on Tuesday evening.
As far as the two deaths are concerned,a case of accidental death was registered in which no one has been held responsible.
Gawari added,As of now,it is difficult fix responsibility for the accident. The district collector has ordered an inquiry which will be conducted by the sub divisional officer. Based on the findings,an offence may be registered. We cannot ignore the fact that the rain was very heavy that day.
