City-based JVR Prestressing Systems providers of services in the structural engineering sector have launched first of its kind post tensioning systems,which would provide a boon for the construction industry.
Speaking at the launch of the post tensioning systems managing director of JVR Prestressing Systems and Strudcom Consultants and the innovators of the system Jayant Inamdar said that use of high strength concrete and steel in post tensioned elements results in light and slender members as compared to reinforced concrete. Henceforth longer spans with reduced depths are possible in post tensioning systems which would be much to the delight of the architects,he added.
Inamdar said post tensioned concrete members possess improved resistance to shearing force. As the reinforcement in the concrete member is reduced,the overall reinforcement laying work becomes easy and concreting also becomes easier due to non congestion of steel.
It also improves the durability of structure due to use of high strength concrete and also gives better control on cracks. Post tensioned elements for long spans are more economical than steel and reinforced elements.

The newly developed post tensioning systems would be very useful in the construction of IT buildings,Malls,Multiplexes,Bridges,which need huge span and spaces.
The first system was inaugurated by Vimal Kumar Jain,managing director,Kumar Properties.
