Joshi,Shivani pick up titles at Chipalkatti badminton tournament

Aditya Joshi and G Ruthvika Shivani claimed the men’s and women’s titles at the Sushant Chipalkatti Memorial junior international badminton tournament. The tournament was played at the PDMBA Complex

Aditya Joshi and G Ruthvika Shivani claimed the men’s and women’s titles at the Sushant Chipalkatti Memorial junior international badminton tournament. The tournament was played at the PDMBA Complex.

Joshi faced M Kanishq in the final of the men’s singles category. Kanishq made second seed Joshi work hard as he kept him on the move constantly,employing a variety of cross-court drops and smashes. However,Joshi took the first game 22-20 and then produced a masterclass in the second game to win 21-15 and seal the title.

In the women’s singles final,G Ruthvika Shivani,the top seed,was stretched by Singapore’s Liang Xiaoyu. Shivani lost the first game,but then came back roaring in the second,before claiming the title in the third. Shivani triumphed 16-21,21-16,21-13.

The mixed-doubles category was won by the third seeded pair of Sanyam Shukla and J Meghna. Playing against the impressive pairing of Saurabh Sharma and K Maneesa,the first game was thrilling before Shukla and Meghna claimed it at 25-23. The second game was relatively easier,with the third seeds winning 21-16 to claim the trophy.

K Maneesha and J Meghna teamed up to capture the women’s doubles title beating Karishma Wadkar and Revati Devasthale 21-10,21-10.

Aditya Joshi then partnered with Arun George to grab the men’s doubles title. Joshi and George beat MR Arjun and Chirag Shetty 21-17,21-12. .
