It’s raining awards for city-based firms

Diversifi3ed business group,3M,has won the prestigious QCI-DL Shah National Award on economics of quality,given by the Quality Council of India.

3M gets National Award

Diversifi3ed business group,3M,has won the prestigious QCI-DL Shah National Award on economics of quality,given by the Quality Council of India (QCI). The award was presented to 3M India by Minister for Tourism,Subodh Kant Sahay at the 7th National Quality Conclave,held in New Delhi. 3M has bagged the award under the ‘large scale manufacturing sector’ category for its significant efforts in ensuring superior quality management system.

Commenting on the achievement,Suhas Sathe,Vice President,manufacturing and engineering,3M India Ltd said,“We are honoured to have won this recognition from a prestigious organisation like QCI. We have found great value in practicing Six Sigma,kaizen and various other best practices to achieve significant improvement in quality. These practices,undertaken at our Ranjangaon plant in Pune,have helped us improve efficiency and productivity”.

The Pune Plant of 3M India is a multi-segment Plant,which manufactures a wide portfolio of products,developed for domestic and global markets. The firm had recently expanded its Ranjangaon facility through a further investment of Rs 70 crore last year. “This project was highly appreciated by the assessment team for strong application of six sigma,Kaizen and other various initiatives under the single umbrella of ISO 9001 QMS” said Avik Mitra,Advisor-National Board for Quality Promotion,QCI.

DSK Toyota wins

10 awards

DSK Toyota has won as many as 10 awards at an annual function organised by automotive leader Toyota,in Japan. Shirish Kulkarni,dealer principal,DSK Toyota received the awards at the hands of Hiroshi Nakagawa ,managing director,Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Vikram Kirloskar,Vice-Chairman,Toyota Kirloskar Motors in a ceremony held in Japan recently.

According to a press release,DSK Toyota has a wide presence with nine state-of-the-art showrooms and six service centres spread across eight districts in Maharashtra. Last year saw DSK Toyota winning awards for its world-class showrooms and services. At this year’s annual function,the Kolhapur dealership bagged the top spot,followed by Bavdhan,Pune,for ‘Outstanding Customer Service’. The Kolhapur dealership brought home ‘Best of the best — Gold Award’ and 3 ‘Stars’ for ‘Excellent Customer Service,’ while the Bavdhan and Hadapsar dealerships won the ‘Double Crown’ for ‘Best Service’.

Courion to double workforce

COURION Corporation is looking at doubling the strength of its workforce in Pune by the end of this year and plans to train engineering students from universities and colleges in India to meet the shortage of software professionals. The company is planning to increase its employees strength from 35 to 70 at the India Technology Centre (ITC). The expansion is coming due to the “company’s global growth and rapid market adoption of identity and access management (IAM) technology”.

HRS Process Systems launches ‘HRS ParaDice’

HRS Process Systems Ltd (HRS PSL),part of HRS Group,UK,recently launched “HRS ParaDice,” designed specifically for value-added processing in the food sector. HRS ParaDice can process diced fruits,vegetables and other food products for various application areas such as fruit pulp,ice creams,custard,puddings,soups,jams,marmalades,sauces,health food and drinks. “HRS ParaDice is an innovative processing solution,” said V Gokuldas,Managing Director,HRS Process Systems Limited.

“HRS ParaDice is capable of processing fruit and vegetable dices without breakage.

HRS ParaDice can also be used for blanching of vegetables,pasteurization and chilling of ready-to-eat fruits. It ensures aseptic processing and longer shelf life of the product without adding preservatives,while retaining its organic properties such as taste,colour,smell,structure and nutritional properties,” he said.
