In a bid to attract maximum students from the region,Hyderabad-based Indian School of Business (ISB) is conducting video conferencing sessions in Pune to guide probable students about the various available courses, the admission process and procedure to follow.
Students who opt for postgraduate course, mostly come to ISB either to excel in their career growth or to make a career switch, for instance from IT to marketing. There are applicants with two to five years of experience in one particular field and for them admission process is also much different from the conventional process, said V K Menon, senior director (career advancement services, admissions and financial aid).
In order to make students acquainted with this process,ISB has been conducting live video-conferencing sessions in various major cities in India, including Pune. Launched last year, the initial videoconferencing involves a 40-minute presentation followed by a question and answer session. Participation of the session usually ranges from 200-300. The last session was conducted at the Le Meridian last Sunday.
In addition to this,ISB plans to hold five videoconference-based information sessions in Pune this year to reach out to the working professionals. The information sessions have senior management members from the ISB interacting with the aspirant students.

There are smaller sessions for students who wish to apply to ISB where the students are advised on which subjects to opt for and so on, Menon said. ISB has seen an increase in students by about 20-30 per cent after we began this initiative last year, he added. The application process at ISB is completely online. Students can upload their resumes,GMAT scores, send in their essays and letters of recommendation through this process. There is no cut-off score. Likewise, the ISB also assesses analytical ability based on GMAT. Here again, there is no cut-off GMAT score. While a good GMAT score helps,an average score can be compensated for by achievements in other areas,he said.
