The Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI),Pune Branch,in collaboration with College of Nursing,AFMC,Pune,observed International Nurses Day at AFMCs Dhanvantri auditorium on Sunday. The day is celebrated world over on May 12 every year in recognition of modern scientific nursing practice.
The theme for this years celebrations was Closing the Gap: Millennium Development Goals – Reduce Child Mortality,Improve Maternal Health,Combat HIV/AIDS,Malaria and other diseases.
Addressing the gathering,chief guest Air Marshal B Keshav Rao,AVSM,Director and Commandant,AFMC,Pune,complemented TNAI for organising the event that highlighted three of the Millennium Development Goals. The guest of honour,Padmashree Lila Poonawalla,founder and trustee,Lila Poonawalla Foundation,appreciated TNAIs efforts for its constant quest for professional excellence through high standards of nursing education.
Around 500 Nursing officers and cadets from Pune attended the function. Awards in various categories were given away by TNAI in recognition of the dedication and hard work put up by nurses in fields like Clinical Nursing,Nursing Administration,Nursing Education and Nursing Research.
