Industry mourns death of comedian Satish Tare

Known for his comic antics on and off stage,Marathi actor and comedian Satish Tare passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Known for his comic antics on and off stage,Marathi actor and comedian Satish Tare passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday. The actor,well-known in the Marathi film and television industry for his roles in noted films such as Valu,Navra Maza Navsacha and Nana Mama,had also acted in a few Hindi movies including Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local co-starring Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia.

“His comic timing was simply superb,” said Director Satish Rajwade who worked with Tare in the television serial Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta.

“I never saw him rehearse any lines or prepare for a performance. He was just so natural and comfortable with himself,” said Rajwade,adding,Tare will be sourly missed as the Marathi industry is a close-knit place where everybody knows each other.

Tare,who was born in Pune,was always interested in acting as his father Jayant Tare too was a famous theatre personality. Tare had famously made his theatre debut as a child actor in his father’s production Ti Fularani. “The industry will definitely miss him a lot. He was not only a great comedian but also my mentor and friend,” said actor Vijay Patwardhan. Patwardhan and Tare had worked together in the hit comedy series Fu Bai Fu.

The actor,who was in his late 40s,was reportedly admitted to a private hospital in Juhu last week. He was suffering from diabetes. Tare was last seen in the film Balak Palak,which was produced by Riteish Deshmukh.
