Campaign expenses of NCP Maval candidate Bapu Bhegde is Rs 4.26 lakh since October 1 while NCP rebel Nivrutti Gavare,Independent candidate from Shirur,has spent Rs 3.86 lakh. This is the expense they have shown in the first two assessments on campaign spending,in accordance with an Election Commission order. Each has spent more than Pune guardian minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar contesting from Baramati,who showed an expense of Rs 3.55 lakh. State finance minister and Ambegaon candidate Dilip Walse Patil has shown Rs 2.7 lakh. Indapur candidate and state cooperatives minister Harashvardhan Patil has shown Rs 1.5 lakh.

Additional treasury officer Shivaji Thombre said all candidates have shown their expenses. “The next declaration is on Sunday and then again on October 14,after the elections,” he said.

The final declaration on October 22 after counting,he added. The expenses are listed from the day of filing of nominations. The election department has figures of all the 284 candidates in the district.

Interestingly some Independent candidates and rebels have shown larger expenses than official nominees. Most rebels,suspended from their parties,have been placing huge poll advertisements. Suspended NCP candidates contesting as Independents in Chinchwad,Laxman Jagtap and Vilas Nandgude,have shown expenses of Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 1.9 lakh respectively.

Vilas Lande,another suspended NCP leader who is contesting from Bhosari,has shown Rs 1.55 lakh as his campaign expenses. Independents Deepak Mankar from Kothrud declared Rs 1.43 lakh while Ujjwal Keskar showed Rs 2.8 lakh.

Official party nominees have shown expenses between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 3 lakh with most being spent on banners,posters,advertisements and vehicle campaigns.

MNS candidate Ramesh Wanjile from Khadakwasla declared Rs 3.7 lakh as expenses while NCP’s Bapu Pathare has shown Rs 3.40 lakh.

Several main contenders from national parties have shown expenses in the Rs 2 lakh bracket. Congress’ Chinchwad candidate Bapu Bhoir has declared Rs 2.7 lakh while Sena’s Bhosari candidate Sulabha Ubal has shown Rs 2.3 lakh. MNS candidate from Parvati,Shivaji Gadade spent Rs 78,884 while Ravindra Ghangekar of the same party contesting Kasba Peth has shown Rs 80,717.
