The identification parade of suspects Manish Nagori alias Manya (24) and Vilas Khandelwal (22), both arrested in connection with the sensational murder of anti-superstition activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar, was conducted in Yerawada Jail on Friday.
Alleged arms dealer Nagori and his aide Khandelwal, hailing from Ichalkaranji in Kolhapur district, are currently lodged in Yerawada Jail. They were arrested in January this year for their involvement in the Dabholkar murder case.
Police said that investigations are on to identify the masterminds behind Dabholkar’s murder. Two persons had allegedly shot dead Dabholkar on the bridge near Omkareshwar temple, at around 7 am on August 20, 2013. Police had managed to get a few eyewitnesses in this case.
They were reportedly taken to Yerawada Jail Friday for identification parade of the suspects Nagori and Khandelwal.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajendra Bhamre confirmed that the identification parade of the two suspects had been carried out.
