A two-year-old girl who had gone missing from her home on Wednesday morning in Ramnagar area in Warje was found murdered hours later. She had an injury mark on the head, made by a sharp weapon.
The girl, Vishakha Praveen Sonavale, was a resident of Peruchi Baag area, Warje Malwadi police said. Senior police inspector G D Pingle investigating the case said, “The girl was last seen around 7.30 am when she went to play. Sometime later, the family members could not find her. They searched the neighbourhood but could not find Vishakha.”
Her parents registered a complaint at the Warje Malwadi police station around 9 am.
Pingle added, “We immediately started our search. But while the probe was on, we got a call that a body of a girl was found in a guava orchard in the area. The family members identified her. She had a severe injury made with a sharp weapon on the head. Prima facie it is a case of murder.”
Vishakha’s father works at a gymnasium in Warje and had left home around 5 am on Wednesday.
Police registered a case of murder. On Wednesday they questioned some people in the area. “We are working on
some threads and the probe is on,” Pingle said.
