The Pune city police have arrested a history-sheeter who allegedly took lift on a motorcycle, but later robbed the biker of his cell phones, cash and the two-wheeler on Monday.

He then used the motorcycle in another snatching attempt from an elderly couple near Madhuban Society on Sinhagad Road. Police have identified the suspect as Satish Sanjay Sutar (21), a resident of Gokul Nagar on Sinhagad Road. The victim motorcyclist, Parag Borade, had lodged a complaint of robbery with Sinhagad Road police station. Police said Borade is a vehicle mechanic who lives in Anand Nagar.
Sutar had requested Borade to give him a lift on his motorcycle for reaching a place around 2.30 pm. On the way, Sutar allegedly attacked him at a secluded place near Madhurban Society.
Surat then robbed the motorcycle, two cell phones and cash, all worth Rs 34,310 from Borade, and fled. Later, he used the bike to chase an elderly couple and and tried to snatch their gold chains. Sutar was later arrested on suspicion. “Sutar has been sent to to police custody till November 26,” said Sub-Inspector S A Gaikwad.
