Connecting a helpline set up in connection with suicide victims on Thursday celebrated one year of its successfully preventing several suicides and also providing healing touch to families of those who committed suicide. All through its telephone helpline.
The event of launch of the celebration of one year of telephone help line and launch of the official website took place at the Mazda Hall at Dastur School. The event was graced by chief guest Dr K B Grant,founder of Ruby Hall Clinic and guest of honour Vandana Chavan,former mayor of Pune.
The NGO was established with two objectives of preventing suicide and to provide space or support to the families and close ones of the victims of suicide. The helpline has received close to 500 calls.
The NGO also has a suicide survivor group,a space where the near and dear ones of the suicide victims share their experiences about the deceased. The newly launched website provide forums for discussions and information about the NGO and suicide. The NGO runs awareness programmes in different schools and colleges,as many youngsters are victims of suicide.

About the NGO,Chavan said, Visibility is very important and I wish Connecting becomes more and more visible in the coming years. In future,Connecting should also reach proactively to people who especially women who do not have access to internet and telephone. About message that Connecting wants to give out,Arnawaz Damania,founder of Connecting said,Just love yourself and everybody. The more you give from this love the more you will get.
