The Pune police traffic control branch has launched a drive against heavy vehicles entering no-entry zones and have already taken action against 500 vehicles in the last two days. The drive was initiated following recent accidents,some of them fatal,involving heavy vehicles.
The drive has been launched keeping in mind accidents involving heavy vehicles such as trucks,tankers and tourist buses,specially those entering No Entry zones. We have collected Rs 2 lakh as fines in the last two days. The drive will continue in the coming days. Vishwas Pandhare,deputy commissioner of police (traffic control branch) said,adding,the accidents involving heavy vehicles were mostly in the fringe areas of the city.
