Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare,under the banner of his Bhrashtrachar Virodhi Jan Andolan (BVJA),will be holding a public rally in Pune on May 25 as part of his five-week Maharashtra tour. He will be covering 35 districts in the state to create public awareness on a strong Lokayukta legislation,
The rally will be held at Pune Municipal Corporation’s Samrat Ashok Vidyalaya’s ground in Karve Nagar at 6 pm on Friday,said Hazare’s advocate Milind Pawar. The activist has appealed to public,non-governmental organisations and youth to support him in large numbers.
Alauddin Sheikh,state secretary of BVJA,said that though the organisation has not sought any additional police protection,about 10-15 guards from a private firm will be deputed for his rallies in Pune and Mumbai. “These guards are from a private firm. We will appoint them in Pune and Mumbai where Hazare’s rallies are expected to attract large number of people,” said Sheikh.
The city-based volunteers of BVJA had written to the Pune police to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during his rally in the city. Anna will be arriving in Pune from Nashik and will further proceed to Solapur.
