The two witnesses who deposed in the German Bakery blast case on Thursday told the court that the caste certificate, ration card and the domicile certificate bearing the accused,Mirza Himayat Inayat Baig’s name were forged.

Prabhodhay Govind Mule, tehsildar from Beed and Venkati Baliram Nilawad, chief officer of Beed Municipal Council deposed before additional sessions judge N P Dhote. With this,a total of 65 witnesses have been examined, while about 50 more are yet to be examined.

During examination by special public prosecutor Raja Thakare,Mule, the tehsildar of Beed since September 24,2010,said he had received a caste certificate and a ration card bearing Baig’s name for verification. While the caste certificate was issued in 1995,the ration card was issued on January 15,2003.

“The caste certificate was in the name of Baig, whereas the ration card was in the name of Mirza Inayat Baig Mehboob Baig (his father) with the name of the accused mentioned on serial number three as Mirza Himayat Baig. Both the documents,on verification of signature, issue register and stamp, were found to be forged,” Mule told the court.

During his cross examination by defence lawyers A Rehman and Kaynat Ali Shaikh,he said he was not an handwriting expert to verify the signature nor was he an expert in verification of stamps. “It is true that our office received no complaint of misuse of the caste certificate and ration card during these years,” he said.

Nilawad has been the chief officer of Beed Municipal council since September 1,2010. The ATS had asked his office to verify a domicile certificate bearing Baig’s name. He told the court that he had sent the certificate to superintendent of municipal council,Raghunath Chincholkar, for verification. Chincholkar,he said, confirmed that the certificate was forged. “I had conveyed the same to the ATS,” he said.

During his cross examination,he agreed that he had not mentioned Chincholkar’s name in his statement to the ATS recorded in December 2010. “I am deposing about the domicile certificate verification by Chincholkar for the first time in the court,” he said.
