Gangsters held,3 pistols seized

The Pune police Crime Branch arrested two persons belonging to Balu Waghire gang and recovered three pistols and 12 live cartridges from their possession on Tuesday.

The Pune police Crime Branch arrested two persons belonging to Balu Waghire gang and recovered three pistols and 12 live cartridges from their possession on Tuesday.

The suspects have been identified as Balu Sadashiv Patil,36,and Ramesh Sitaram Yadav,20,both residents of Sant Dnyaneshwar Colony,Jai Malhar Nagarm Thergaon.

Acting on a tip-off,a team of anti-dacoity cell of the crime branch led by inspector Satish Govekar,assistant inspector Yeshwant Fulwade arrested the duo from Dange Chowk at 4.30 pm on Tuesday.

A complaint under Sections of Arms Act was registered against them at the Hinjewadi police station. They were produced before the magistrate court on Wednesday. The court remanded them in police custody till July 6. Patil is believed to be a close aide of gangster Balu Waghire who is currently in Yerawada jail.

“Patil is a history sheeter. He has been booked earlier in eight crimes. He used to operate in Pimpri,Nigdi and Chatushringi area. His aide Yadav has been arrested for the first time,” said inspector Govekar.

Investigation is on to know from whom they got the fire arms and whether they planned to sell the weapons to anyone in the city.
