Gangster Bapu Nayar’s mother, aide arrested in ‘land scam’

Joint commissioner of police Sunil Ramanand had received an application demanding probe into a land deal involving Rani Nayar.

The crime branch of Pune city police has arrested the mother of gangster Bapu Prabhakar Nayar along with a gang member for allegedly buying a piece of land by submitting forged documents. Bapu’s mother, identified as Rani Prabhakar Nayar (60) and his aide Nilesh Baswant, have been booked under sections 467, 468, 471, 473, 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). An offence in this case has been registered at the Bibvewadi police station. Bapu Nayar is a gangster who is wanted in several criminal cases. Pune police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against him.

Joint commissioner of police Sunil Ramanand had received an application demanding probe into a land deal involving Rani Nayar. A team of anti-organised crime cell of the Pune police crime branch, led by inspector Vijaysinh Gaikwad initiated probe in this case.

Police found that Rani is not a farmer. But still she prepared forged documents showing her as a farmer, using which she purchased 20 gunthas of land at Mauje Warvadi in Purandar taluka of Pune district.

Police checked the documents at talathi office and found that a 7/12 extract document submitted by Rani was fake. Accordingly, police Friday arrested Rani and Nilesh Baswant, who allegedly helped her. Police said that Bapu Nayar has constructed a big farmhouse on this land. Meanwhile, police said that search is on for Bapu Nayar.
