In Shirur and Maval, the pre-voting predictions of huge victory margins have gone. Parties are re-assessing their prospects, and though they still say they will win,the margins they predict are smaller than earlier.
Ajit Gavahane,NCP campaign manager of Shirur candidate Vilas Lande, reported interesting feedback from two party teams. Lande has been the first choice of voters in Bhosari and Shirur, from where we expect a lead of nearly 50,000 votes. In Ambegaon,Junnar and Khed-Alandi assembly segments our lead will be 5,000 to 10,000. Lande will win by over 50,000 votes.
Before voting, the Lande camp had projected a win by over one lakh votes.
Lande said calculations are on but he hasnt personally thought of a figure as yet. I am on pilgrimage to Pandharpur,Akkalkot and Karamala. Before elections,I went to the people as they are my gods. Now I am turning to God for peace, said Lande,

The Shiv Sena camp had predicted a victory margin of over two lakh votes for Shivaji Adhalrao. Now it feels he will win by 1.20 lakh or a little more. Our calculations are based on the huge response that Adhalrao got in Ambegaon,Khed-Alandi,Junnar and Shirur. In Hadapsar and Bhosari,we wont get a lead as huge as in other segments, said Dattaji Dhawde, campaigner manager for Adhalrao.
Gajanan Babar, the Sena candidate from Maval, said his feedback was that citizens voted for him in big numbers in Pimpri Camp,Sangvi,Gurav Pimple,Pradhikaran,Wakad and Thergaon. But the biggest response was in Chinchwad,Akurdi,Kalbhornagar and Mohannagar. In Pimpri-Chinchwad,I expect a lead of 30,000 and in Panvel,Karjat and Uran, around 70,000. Only in Dapodi area has the BSP been favoured, said Babar, adding it will be a good contest and not one-sided as earlier predicted.
Independent candidate Maruti Bhapkar said he should not be counted out of the race. In Pimpri and Chinchwad, there was massive voting in my favour. In Panvel,Uran and Karjat,I have had a setback because we have no network like established parties, Bhapkar said, predicting a close victory rather than the huge one he had earlier expected.
NCP candidate Azam Pansare predicted a margin of around 50,000 to one lakh. The Pansare camp was earlier talking of victory margin over one lakh votes.
As per my feedback,I will take a lead in 5 segments and trail in only one, he said.
Pansare too is on a pilgrimage. I just visited the Khwaja Garib Nawaz Dargah in Ajmer and am now moving to Nagaur where there is a 1,500-year-old temple, said Pansare whose supporters are banking on support from North Indians,South Indians and Muslims.
