Four more held for train robberies

The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Crime Branch arrested four more persons on Monday for recent dacoities on trains,including Goa Nizamuddin Express.

Those arrested by GRP have been identified as Bablu Ramdulari Gupta of MHADA Colony,Hadapsar,and Nitin Datta Survase of Loni Kalbhor. Three others arrested by the anti-dacoity cell of Crime Branch have been identified as Sagar Dada Kamthe (19) of Loni Kalbhor,Atul Shivaji Nimbhore (22) of Malwadi,Hadapsar,and Kailas Maruti Wagare (22) of Solapur.

Survase was arrested on Sunday and Gupta on Monday. GRP officers have recovered eight cell phones and Rs 5,000 cash from the suspects.

The anti-dacoity cell of Crime Branch team had laid a trap and arrested Kamthe,Nimbhore and Wagare from near railway gate in Ghorpadigaon around 12.15 am on Monday.

Investigations revealed that the five suspects along with four more accomplices were involved in looting many passengers in Goa Nizamuddin Express on July 27,Jodhpur Express on June 25,Maharashtra Express on July 22 and earlier in Patna Express and Agra-Pune Express.

Crime Branch officers said that the trio were arrested while they were preparing to loot passengers in a train going towards Kolhapur.

Police have recovered gold and silver ornaments,cash,cell phones,wrist watches,DVD players worth Rs 1.36 lakh from the three suspects.

Police also seized sharp weapons that they used for looting the passengers. GRP and Crime Branch teams have launched a search for the absconding suspects.

The modus operandi of the dacoits was to enter the general compartments during midnight and loot passengers at knife point. After the crime,they would jump out of the train by pulling the chain.
