Four persons,including a woman,were killed and seven critically injured after the tourist vehicle they were travelling in fell into a trench along Pune-Mumbai Expressway after it brushed past a speeding car at Baur near Kamshet on Sunday afternoon.
Vadgaon Maval police said the passengers in the ill-fated Tavera had started from Mumbai and were headed for Pune. The Tavera brushed past an Ascent,and its driver lost control. It turned turtle and off the road. The Tavera was badly damaged and three persons died on the spot. The woman,who was taken to Lokmanya hospital,was critical and succumbed a while later, said inspector Sopan More.
The deceased have been identified as Anil Tukaram Tambe (48) of Khadki,Azam Iqbal Khan (22) of Upper Indiranagar,Sachin Janardan Landge (25) of Belapur in Navi Mumbai and Rohini Dhiraj Gade (42) of Kalewadi.
Six of the seven injured have been identified as Dheeraj Baba Gade (40) of Kalewadi,Sanjay Rupchand Jadhav (32) of Karmala in Solapur,Sagar Gautam Chavan (24) of Akluj,Ajmal Hassan (25) of Vidyavihar in Mumbai,Vikaram Motilal Bahare (24) of Kharadi and Pravin Dattu Gaikwad (47) of Khadki.
More added,The deceased and injured are neither related to each other nor are part of any group. The car was being used as a tourist vehicle. We are investigating if the driver had a valid permit. We are also trying to find out who the owner of the car is.
